College students suffer through a multitude of problems, both mentally and physically, throughout their time in college. For a lot of students, life in college feels like it is scripted. It feels as if your life is already laid out for you and all you have to do is follow the script. This makes all the strife and hard work feel meaningless. My project details these problems in the form of a game to create a satirical metaphor of life in college. A life where you don’t feel as if you are in control of. My project serves as a commentary for both college education system and the expectations set on young people by society.
The objective of my game is to overcome obstacles relating to common situations students face in college. The main aspect of my game are boss battles that the player would have to defeat. Each boss will be a physical manifestation of a situation or an emotional state. From feelings of depression to physical fatigue, each boss will represent an important aspect of college life that tells an overarching narrative of the disillusionment of college. Furthermore each boss battle have special and unique mechanics depending on what they represent.
